The Ordinary Granactive Retinoid 2% Emulsion

Granactive Retinoid for Acne Scars. The Ordinary Granactive Retinoid 2% Emulsion

I suffered from acne throughout my teenage years. As I entered my twenties, I managed to keep it under control, though I still get occasional pimples. Yet, when I turned 26, my skin began breaking out again. I followed medical prescriptions and a skincare routine to heal and reduce pimples. But acne scars were hard to treat and even harder to cover with makeup.

I tried different cleansers, creams, and acne treatments, but nothing seemed to work. Then, a friend recommended a retinoid product, The Ordinary Granactive Retinoid 2% Emulsion. After researching it a bit, I decided to give it a try. I am so glad I did.

Retinoids are vitamin A derivatives that improve skin texture, pigmentation, and wrinkles. Generally, we can find retinoids as active ingredients in anti-aging skincare products. They help reduce acne scars and keep breakouts under control for acne-prone skin. Also, they are beneficial as anti-inflammatory ingredients.

For some people, retinoids can irritate the skin, especially in concentrated formulas. My skin is very oily, but it can get dry during the winter. I am quite sensitive. The Ordinary Granactive Retinoid 2% Emulsion is perfect for prone-to-irritation skin. A white, creamy serum that does not feel heavy on the skin and is easy to apply thanks to the included pipette. Very sensitive people may experience some redness when using the product for the first time.

I have been using the emulsion for a month and loved it. I applied the product before sleeping, as the instructions recommended. Retinoids can increase skin sensitivity to sunlight exposure, so use them only at night. The most damaged area was my left cheek. I could see how, day after day, the scars started to fade, and my skin became cleaner, softer, and brighter. The texture improved, so I no longer need to wear a lot of makeup, and whenever I do, it lays better and looks smoother.

Before applying it, I clean my skin to ensure I remove all makeup, dust, or sweat accumulated over the day. After, I used a moisturizer to protect my skin’s barrier from dryness. And, of course, I use SPF if I have to leave the house in the morning.

On the whole, it is a great product. After years of testing different products, this is the first that does what it promises. It has a gentle formula for acne-prone skin and does not irritate like other retinoids. Also, it is an affordable over-the-counter product. You don’t need a prescription for it.
