I have owned virtually all types of cooking appliances and while looking for those I don’t have in my kitchen, I saw this Cuisinart’s Cook Fresh Digital Glass Steamer and decided to give it a try. It’s a unique product for making healthy, flavorsome, and nutritious meals.
I got hooked up by its excellent low-fat cooking method as it allows me to steam fish and meat without adding oil. This is something I haven’t done in a lifetime. More so, this device creates healthy veggies that are more enjoyable. So I unboxed my new machine to see how it works.
The steamer heats up very quickly (in about 60 seconds) and the first vegetable I steamed was a container of thin asparagus. I set the steamer to eight minutes but the veggie was steamed at seven and a half minutes. It tastes delicious. I also steamed sliced onions the same day and enjoyed them with pepper, salt, and butter.
One good thing about this product is its ability to set time for different meals. So while the food was steaming, I was watching the TV and never had to keep my eyes on the clock. The steamer beeps when the vegetables are done; however, you can use a fork to turn them if they are not done to your liking. You also have the option to use the manual mode.
A couple of days later, I hosted some friends whom I entertained with homemade tamales. Unlike using the traditional steaming pot that I would have to continue checking on the stove, this Cuisinart steamer made a batch of 40 hand-rolled tamales in just a few minutes. They all taste flavorful and crispy.
I have also used this steamer to steam frozen beef brisket, warm grilled meats, steam several chicken breasts, and a variety of vegetables. Overall, I am not disappointed with this product. And as a matter of fact, I am going to gift this appliance to my mom on her next birthday. So I recommend it to anyone interested in healthy eating.
