When it comes to foundations, I’ve tried so many. I’ve tried all types of coverages and finishes, as I’m always ready to experiment until I find the formulas that fit my skin the best.
I typically avoid foundations that contain fragrance, oxidize, or emphasize my smile lines, and lately, my favorite has been the Nars Light Reflecting Foundation, which offers medium coverage and a natural finish.
Every year, I do a series of facial treatments that require me to stay out of the sun, so my face is usually lighter than the rest of my body. On casual days, I tend to stick to concealer for my complexion makeup, but if I’m headed out on the weekends, I like to wear foundation as well as eyeliner, mascara, blush, and bronzer. To test the L’Oréal Paris Infallible Fresh Wear Foundation, I wore it a few times both during the week and on the weekend, making sure to prep my dry skin first and start with a primer for best results.
Applying this L’Oréal Paris product is pretty similar to other liquid foundations. Using either a foundation brush or a beauty blender, you’ll want to apply a small amount if your goal is a natural, everyday look. You can also layer the foundation for enhanced coverage on days when you want a more seamless finish. If you’re having a night out or simply want to create a glam look, try mixing the foundation with a liquid illuminator for an extra touch of radiance. Not being able to swatch the shades of the L’Oréal Paris Infallible Fresh Wear Foundation, I used the brand’s online “match my shade” tool. When I first applied the shade I ended up getting, I noticed it looked darker than my face, but I went ahead and tried it anyway. After adding concealer and the rest of my makeup, the color choice blended well and matched my neck. The coverage is buildable and feels breathable on the skin, and although the product does have a fragrance that might bother some, the scent goes away as soon as you apply it. Hours later, my makeup still looked good, and the foundation didn’t settle into my smile lines. I didn’t notice any negative reactions after the first try, but after a few more uses, I did see a bit of redness on my chin.
Without the fragrance, I think this foundation would be a great option for people with sensitive skin. If you do have a lot of sensitivity, I would recommend doing a patch test to be sure it works well for you.
