The last time I allowed anyone to shape my brows was around six years ago, and I’ll never forget the shock of seeing noticeably uneven brows in the mirror. This was particularly problematic for me, as I’ve struggled to fill in my brows using a pencil without ending up with a look that resembled a microblading mishap.
I’ve always leaned towards brow pomades as they felt more user-friendly for me. However, I’ve been working on becoming more comfortable with eyebrow pencils and eagerly seized the opportunity to experiment with Rare Beauty’s Brow Harmony Pencil.
Why did I ever begin waxing and manipulating my brows? Looking back at photos from my high school days, I had full, some might say “bushy,” brows. Now, as I’ve grown older, I’ve come to appreciate those bold brows in a way I couldn’t in my youth. While my brows are not as full as they once were, they’re not overly thin either. Usually, it’s the tail and arch of my brows that pose a challenge. When using a pencil to fill them in, I’ve always been worried about making mistakes in those areas.
Using this brow pencil was a breeze. I applied it just like any other pencil, starting with the arch and working towards the tails. I noticed that the pencil didn’t deposit too much color at once. With each stroke, my sparse areas gradually became fuller without making my brows too bold. The brand claims the formula is buildable, and after my first use, I could see that the claim held true.
As I mentioned, I’m no brow expert, but as I was preparing to attend the Black Beauty Roster Luncheon with a room full of makeup artists like Danessa Myricks and Sir John, I felt like I’d done a decent enough job for them not to approach me and say, “Girl, what’s going on with those brows.”
After applying the brow pencil, I went back to clean up the areas around my arches and tails. I was pleased with how easily the formula came off. Despite being waterproof, it didn’t leave any stubborn, hard-to-remove marks. I simply used a dry Q-tip to tidy up the areas where I went overboard and ran the spoolie through my brows to give them a fluffy, polished look.
In conclusion, Rare Beauty’s Brow Harmony Pencil made my brow journey a lot less intimidating. It’s user-friendly, buildable, and easy to correct if you make a mistake. Whether you’re a brow expert or a novice like me, I’d recommend giving it a try to achieve those perfectly balanced brows. ?????????????
