My skin is naturally dry, so when it comes to makeup, I tend to lean towards hydrating formulas across the board (from foundation to highlighter). For the latter, I prefer lightweight, creamy textures (my current favorites are by Rose Inc. and Victoria Beckham) that effortlessly melt into my skin.
How To Apply:
Swipe on my eyes, face, or body According to the brand, I can use the highlighter on my eyes, face, lips, and body. But note that I’ll need a different application technique for each area.
Swatches of mac jelly slime highlighter With just one swipe across my lid, the silver and gold hues pack more punch than your average eyeshadow ever could. I can use a stiff, flat eyeshadow brush to pat the product into place along my lid or use an eyeliner brush to create a metallic cat eye.
As the name implies, another way to use it is as a highlighter. I truly won’t need more than a tiny dot, and any leftover product on my eyeshadow brush will be more than enough to dust along my cheekbones lightly. While I can certainly use a fluffy highlighter brush, I prefer my Beautyblender to help blur it out.
If I’m going to use it along my décolleté, I’ll use my finger to transfer the product to my skin and buff it out with my Beautyblender. Lastly, if I’m into metallic lip colors, this highlighter looks cool mixed with my favorite lip gloss. With just a few finger taps, I’ve got a custom fairy dust-like lip color.
The Results:
High-impact shine I was initially thrown by the pigment of the metallic glitter and hesitant that it would blend out enough. While undecided about the intensity, the unique gel-like texture immediately impressed me. It’s silkier and smoother than my average drugstore glitter makeup, immediately making it feel more luxurious. Both colors offer a high-shine, foil-like result. The gold-flecked version gives a softer yellow glow, and the silver gives off more of a light, icy tint. No matter how much I blend, neither is low-key, but I can play around and manipulate the intensity. While I wouldn’t wear it every day, it’s an easy way to step up my look for a girl’s night out or other celebratory occasion.
